D100 Tables: Town Notice Board
Was watching an excellent video by Black Magic Craft, and man I wish I could be as talented as this guy, and it sparked an idea in me. I decided to write up a town notice board.
A town notice board is a busy place. Farmers, merchants, guards, and would-be adventurers all leave their scraps of paper and tacked-up warnings here. Some are helpful. Some are lies. Some are just weird. When the party walks by, you can roll on this table to see what catches their eye. Maybe it leads to a new job. Maybe it leads to trouble. Either way, it makes the streets feel alive.
Roll when the group stops to read the board, or when you want to drop a little chaos into town life. Ignore anything that doesn’t fit your session, or let the players chase it and see where they end up.
OR pre-plan it, make the board a part of the town feature and pick things ahead of time. Don’t go nuts, but pick a few ideas and kind of flesh them out of the night of adventure. If anything you have some nice hooks you can use later on that you can just twist into other ideas.
