Just Thinking....Monsters in Cages…
Weird Twisted Thoughts...
Was reading an old D&D novel, the Glass Prism and the subject of cages came up.
Thoughts of different cages came to mind, not the big ones, the little ones. They are smaller, for one thing. I started flipping through some AD&D monsters manuals, and the Field Folio had something that sparked an idea in mind. The Xill made me stop and think.
What if an evil Magic User in my game captured one and kept it in a cage. Maybe start collected a bunch of them in cages, and kept them in a room. Hanging from the ceiling. Some of them swaying back and forth as you walk past. Maybe some whisper weird things due to being trapped for so long. Maybe others make promises to you, just to get out of this place. The whole dungeon smells like damp fur and rust.
They notice an open cage at the end of the room. It’s on some sort of track that goes into the wall, but they see no entrance door or break in the wall for the cage.
After searching a bit, they see there is no secret doors or anything they can find.
The key is something has to be in the cage. When I say something, it has to be living.
Maybe they need to trap a new “offering” in the cage, which once the cage door is closed, it will start moving along the track, and room they are in, now shows a door, and suddenly the cage is gone right before their eyes and appears hanging from the ceiling.
“If they start caging things, the dungeon notices.”
Just a weird concept I was thinking about.
Am I weird?
